Tony Khan Claims AEW Is The Greatest Run Of Sting’s Career

Tony Khan Sting

AEW CEO Tony Khan has stated his belief that Sting’s current run with the company is the best of his career.

During a recent appearance on The Chase McCabe Show, Khan waxed lyrical about the current talent in the AEW locker room but singled out the former 6-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion for special praise:

“When you talk about some of the biggest names in pro wrestling, for me it starts and ends with Sting. He’s one of the all-time legends. He’s one of my all-time favorites.

Sting is still a huge part of AEW, and one of the greatest things we accomplished was bringing Sting out of retirement. He is still wrestling to this day. He is undefeated in AEW, in fact, and he’s on the greatest run of his career right now in AEW.”

Sting appears to be captivating more than just the AEW audience during this run, as a fellow wrestler recently admitted that they became “star-struck” when sharing the ring with “The Icon.”

Sting Set For Match At Record Breaking Wembley Stadium Show

‘The Icon’ is still going strong at 64 years of age and is gearing up for a match at the huge AEW All In event at Wembley Stadium on August 27th, with over 80,000 fans expected to be in attendance.

Sting is set to team with Darby Allin to take on Swerve Strickland and AR Fox in a tag-team coffin match in the event at the gigantic stadium in London.

Many had suggested that the record-breaking show could be the perfect way for the WWE Hall Of Famer to bow out from in-ring competition, something that was categorically denied by the Superstar at the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door post-show media scrum in June:

“A lot of people have actually wondered if I was gonna retire in Wembley. That would be kinda cool, but I don’t see that happening. I think I’m gonna continue on.

Tony’s kinda been in my ear a little bit here and there, saying, ‘Steve, you can stay as long as you want!’ So I’m not sure how long that’ll be. But like I said a few months ago, ‘Showtime is just about over with,’ and it truly is.”
