Tony Khan Appears To Take Shot At WWE, Branding Rivals “The Enemy”

Tony Khan

Tony Khan has seemingly taken a dig at WWE in a new social media post referring to the company as “the enemy.”

On June 4th, Stokely Hathaway was on social media doing Stokely Hathaway things. The eccentric manager shared a fake tweet from Mariah Carey calling for him to face Kazuchika Okada at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.

The parody tweets have become a cult hit on social media as wrestling fans revel in something a little more light-hearted away from the usual tribalism.

In response to this latest tweet, AEW President Tony Khan shared the post and added a message of his own. Khan waxed lyrical in the tweet about having Stokely in AEW while making sure to sneak in a little dig at “the enemy.”

“It really just sunk in for me for the first time that @Malcolmvelli ’s infamous counterfeit tweets will focus on @AEW from now on. They’ve gone from something I begrudgingly saw as amazing content from a brilliant manager working for the enemy into 2022 AEW canon. This made my day”

Stokely Hathaway, who was previosuly known as Malcom Bivens in WWE, made his AEW debut at Double or Nothing where he came to the side of TBS Champion Jade Cargill. Hathaway’s mid-match arrival enabled Cargill to retain her title against Anna Jay.

The popular manager has now aligned himself with Cargill, speaking on her behalf as she confronted Athena on a recent episode of Dynamite. Athena, formerly known as Ember Moon, made her AEW debut at Double or Nothing, confronting Cargill after her win.

On the June 3rd episode of Rampage, Athena made a winning in-ring debut against Kiera Hogan as Cargill, Hathaway and Red Velvet watched on.
