Tony Khan Announces New Championship [Spoiler]

AEW President Tony Khan

Tony Khan has unveiled a brand new championship.

Following AEW Collision on April 12th, ROH held TV tapings in Springfield, Massachusetts. To kick things off, Tony Khan addressed the crowd with a new belt in hand.

That belt is the new ROH Pure Women’s Championship, and Khan announced to the live crowd that the inaugural champion will be crowned through a tournament. The first round will begin at Supercard of Honor on May 2nd, but the participants are currently unknown.

The women’s Pure division will likely follow the same strict rules as the men’s. This would include allowing only three rope breaks, no closed-fist punches, and no outside interference. The standard Pure rules also mandate that, if a match reaches its time limit, the winner is decided by a three-judge panel.

This will be the eighth title on the Ring of Honor brand and the third women’s championship. The last title to be introduced was the Women’s TV Title, which was introduced in December 2023 and is currently held by Red Velvet.

Tony Khan Responds To Criticism Of AEW Dynasty

Tony Khan has defended AEW Dynasty after criticism from fans. Many were unhappy that Swerve Strickland didn’t emerge from the event with his second World Title. Instead, The Young Bucks made their surprise return to attack Swerve and hand that match to Moxley.

While Khan says he will take the negative fan reaction to the main event into account, he believes the outcome of the match has created an “intriguing situation” between The Death Riders, Young Bucks, and Strickland.

In a new interview ahead of AEW Dynamite’s historic episode, Tony Khan has responded to the critics.

In recent news, Tony Khan has “guaranteed” that an AEW pay-per-view will be coming to the city of Detroit.
