Tony Khan Aiming To “Tighten Up” Refereeing In AEW

AEW President Tony Khan has called on the promotion’s most senior official to help “tighten up” refereeing in All Elite Wrestling.

At AEW Dynamite Grand Slam Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley met in the main event to decide a new AEW World Heavyweight Champion. The championship had been declared vacant in the wake of the chaos surrounding the post-All Out media scrum.

Although it should be noted that CM Punk had suffered a serious triceps injury during his match at the event which will keep him out of the ring for around eight months.

Two pieces of history were made in the main event at Arthur Ashe Stadium with Moxley becoming champion for a record third time and referee Paul Turner taking charge of his 100th AEW main event.

However, it was something of a mixed night for Turner who also came under fire for missing a handful of key moments in earlier matches. The official missed a low blow from Chris Jericho as he won the ROH World Championship, PAC using the ring bell hammer and Billy Gunn attacking Swerve In Our Glory.

Posting on social media, Tony Khan paid tribute to Turner before revealing that he has also been discussing refereeing standards.

Watching high up in the arena, MJF witnessed Moxley win the World Championship knowing that he has already earned a title opportunity.

At AEW Rampage Grand Slam Hangman Adam Page won a Golden Ticket Battle Royal to secure his own match against Moxley on the October 18th edition of Dynamite.
