Tony Khan Addresses Possibility Of Making Massive Change To AEW PPV

Tony Khan has discussed whether or not there are plans to host another pay-per-view internationally.

On June 30th, AEW will present Forbidden Door for the third time at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York. The crossover event with NJPW sees stars from each promotion battle it out with the top championships defended. With the previous 2 shows and the upcoming event all taking place in North America, is there a chance that fans in Japan could see Forbidden Door make its debut at some point?

Speaking at the press conference following Double or Nothing, Khan was asked about hosting the show overseas:

“If we did something, it’s something of a great possibility, it would not necessarily be Forbidden Door. Forbidden Door, we built something really special, there are a lot of exciting possibilities. That would be great for AEW and New Japan, and that could be an exciting next step, in addition to what we do at Forbidden Door, typically in America. We could do Forbidden Door internationally, you never know.

We have something special with Forbidden Door. We could do some more projects potentially. This was one of my all-time favorite Wrestle Kingdom shows. There are so many great wrestlers in New Japan and AEW. If AEW were to send a big crew to Japan, that would be really exciting. I would love that. That could be Forbidden Door, but it could be in addition to Forbidden Door.”

Currently, the only PPV to take place outside of the United States and Canada is All In, which airs live from Wembley Stadium in London, England.

Tony Khan Discusses Another PPV Change

Back in 2023, the promotion presented All Out just one week after All In, which was heavily criticised by the fans due to the contrast in quality of each show. Having now added more time in between both shows in 2024, Tony Khan explained his reasonings.

According to a new report, Tony Khan is said to be unhappy about the state of the media rights negotiations.
