Tony Khan has been asked about his comments in an NFL interview about WWE.
Khan has been a prominent talking point in both the wrestling and American Football communities in the past few days due to the attack angle that took place on the April 24th episode of Dynamite and subsequent appearances on the NFL Draft, which saw Khan in a neck brace throughout.
Along with Khan continuing to sell the attack from Jack Perry and The Young Bucks, Khan also hit the headlines when he stated that his own promotion is the “Pepsi of professional wrestling” and that he is up against the “evil juggernaut” that it WWE, who Tony Khan also compared to Harvey Weinstein.
Interviewed on TMZ Sports by Dean “Mojo” Muhtadi, Khan, who was still wearing a neck brace, stated that he was happy with the coverage his promotion received following the NFL appearances:
“I’m glad that it was so much attention for AEW. It’s a really exciting time for the company. A lot of people have been introduced to AEW this week and I know that we had a great audience for our show on Saturday,”
Khan was then asked about going viral in a number of ways during his media appearances, including a “couple of comparisons” to “the competition.” In response to this, Khan stated that he got a lot of coverage from his comments and listed multiple reasons why he feels that All Elite Wrestling is the best promotion:
“We got tons of coverage for AEW, and I think it is important to say that I think AEW is the best wrestling company in the world in many ways. I think that we have the best wrestlers, the best matches, we’ve been putting on the best shows. I think the best pay-per-view events this year have been the two AEW events,”
“There are so many great things that have happened in AEW this year, and I’ll hold our track record up on anything, whether it’s the quality of the shows, the safety, the travel, the hotels. Everything we do, in and out of the ring, I think AEW is the very best.”
What Was The Reaction To Tony Khan’s Comments?
Khan’s comments left NFL presenters stunned and the conversation was quickly moved on before Khan was able to provide any sort of follow-up. With both companies taking notice of what was said, a new report provided WWE and AEW’s reaction to Tony Khan’s controversial NFL interview.
