AEW CEO Tony Khan recently addressed concerns about Adam Copeland’s well-being after his intense barbed wire steel cage match against Malakai Black at AEW Double or Nothing.
Tony Khan assured that Copeland was being evaluated by AEW‘s medical team and expressed optimism about his condition.
Speaking of the face of TNT, Mr. Copeland, we are checking him out. That was an amazing barbed wire cage match. He has been so awesome since he came in, and I’m knocking on all the wood and crossing all my fingers and toes that he is okay.
During the post-show press conference, Khan emphasised the significance of Copeland’s contribution to AEW and expressed his hope for the TNT Champion’s swift recovery. He praised Copeland’s remarkable performance since joining AEW and emphasised the importance of his well-being to the company.
Adam Copeland arriving in AEW, came at a perfect time for us. What a run he is having. I was hoping he would be sitting here [in the presser] with Tanahashi-san and myself right now. He’s really beat up, [but] I’ll cross my fingers and hope that he’s okay.
The match itself was described as brutal and barbaric, with Black sustaining visible injuries during the course of the intense encounter. Notable moments included Copeland’s daring dive from the top of the cage onto Black, as well as the unexpected return of Gangrel, who came to Copeland’s aid during the match.
Despite the physical toll of the match, Copeland emerged victorious, retaining his TNT title by applying a crossface submission on Black.
Why Did Tony Khan Choose To Move The AEW All Out Date?
Tony Khan decided to move the AEW All Out date due to All In being scheduled very close together last year with both shows happening over two weeks and fans wanting more space between the events.
Shortly after the pay-per-view, Adam Copeland confirmed the injury.
