Toni Storm’s AEW Return Sparks Outrage; Multiple People In The Company “Appalled”

Toni Storm's AEW Return Sparks Outrage; Multiple People In The Company

Not everyone was happy with the way Toni Storm has made her return to AEW.

Appearing for the first time since her loss to Mariah May back at All In, Toni Storm interrupted the Women’s Champion’s celebration at the end of Winter is Coming. To add to the surprise, Storm made her entrance with her old music and attire, seemingly putting an end to her “Timeless” era.

Although Storm came back with a bang on Dynamite, her booking has already raised some eyebrows within the company.

Instead of building to the big Storm segment that will reference her return and the inevitable return match, the former Women’s Champion has already competed twice. Storm’s long-awaited return match is a throwaway bout against Harley Cameron that will air on the December 13th Rampage and her second match against Shazza McKenzie on Collision has also been taped ahead of time.

With Rampage being the C show and non-existent in the new year when the new media rights deal begins, fans have taken issue with the anticlimactic nature of Storm’s return. According to a new report, many in AEW feel the same way.

Many “Appalled” About Toni Storm’s Booking

Discussing Storm’s return and follow-up on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez stated that many within the company were shocked that Storm made her highly anticipated comeback on Rampage:

“Do you know how many people I talked to in AEW yesterday, and every last single one of them, ‘aghast’ may not even be the right word, ‘appalled’ that Toni Storm’s return is on Rampage. […] I swear to god this is true. You could have had 200 people lined up outside Tony Khan’s door last night, one by one, all 200 of them could have gone in there and said, ‘This idea is stupid.’ Do you wanna know what’d happen at the end of the night? He’d have still done it, because that’s what happens. People argue things with him every single week, and at the end of the day, he does whatever he wants.”

Also on the Winter Is Coming special, Jon Moxley confirmed his World Championship match for AEW Worlds End.
