Toni Storm has recalled her time in WWE.
Currently, one of the greatest stars in AEW, Toni Storm, was previously with WWE before joining forces with All Elite Wrestling. However, while Storm became one of the most popular names here at the Jacksonville-based promotion, such was not the case in WWE.
After a successful NXT run, Storm failed to live up to the hype on the main roster. Often featured in lacklustre rivalries, the current AEW Women’s Champion also failed to maintain regular TV time. Recently, speaking on the Marking Out podcast, Storm spilled the beans on what went wrong at World Wrestling Entertainment.
“In the WWE, I don’t think I was told what to do enough. I wasn’t told to do anything, actually. Obviously you’re told what to do in a certain circumstance, but overall, I don’t feel like I was told what to do enough. There’s direction in things like, you know, this is what you do on television, this is cameras.
But then, as in regards to a character, no, I was never like—they would write promos, but I kind of just did it. I wasn’t really told, like, do this. ‘Today you’re a cat and this is your character and your name is Bloody, Tory, Bloody Smith.’ No one had told me anything and I kept my name the whole time.“

The 29-year-old later joined AEW in 2022 and quickly elevated herself into one of the must-see stars of all time. Her current gimmick as ‘Timeless’ is extremely popular and a hot talking point amongst the fans.
AEW Star Discusses His Married Life With Toni Storm
Toni’s my best friend. And to see what she’s doing with wrestling is… it pumps me up. It pumps me up because I know who she is and what she’s been through to get to where she is. And it’s inspiring,
In fact, there was times maybe when she was down where I would be like, ‘Hey, hey, hey.’ And now look at her, and she’s going, ‘Hey, hey, hey.’”
Sometimes you go home and it doesn’t turn off, and you’re talking about things nonstop. But like, sometimes that’s just what we need. You talk about not turning off. I would say I get Timeless Toni Storm 24/7. The only thing that doesn’t come home with her is Luther. Thank God. Thank God for that.”
In other news: WCW veteran Chuck Coates has unfortunately passed away.
