Toni Storm Excited About Possibility Of NXT Women’s Tag Titles

Former NXT UK Women’s Champion Toni Storm has spoken about her excitement at the possibility of the creation of NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships.

Since William Regal revealed he will be making two ‘landscape changing’ announcements on the March 10th edition of NXT, speculation has been rampant on what these will be. Reportedly, one of the two will be the creation of Women’s Tag Team Championships which will be exclusive to the black and gold brand.

Speaking to Sportskeeda, Toni Storm said that if these reports are accurate, it could change the NXT women’s division.

“If that happens, that’s going to change the entire division. I mean, we’ve got more women than we ever have. So it’s going to be entertaining as hell. Like if that’s the case… it might as well just be all women (laughs).

“This (NXT Women’s Tag Titles) is going to raise the stakes and make competition even higher, if this is what’s happening. I get nervous when William Regal is going to announce something because you just know it’s going to be good.”

Currently, WWE has one set of Women’s Tag Team Championships, held by Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler, which are defended across Raw, Smackdown, and NXT. They have been defended on NXT three times since their creation, most recently with Baszler and Jax successfully defending against the winners of the women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai.

The March 10th edition of NXT promises to be a blockbuster episode. As well as William Regal’s announcements, will see Toni Storm attempting to with the NXT Women’s Championship when she faces the current champion, Io Shirai, while Finn Balor will defend the NXT Championship against the former leader of Undisputed Era, Adam Cole. We will have full coverage of the show here at Inside the Ropes.
