AEW star Toni Storm has spoken candidly about coming out as bisexual during her time in WWE, and details the unusual circumstances in which it came about.
The former NXT UK Women’s Champion made the powerful statement during a takeover of the black and gold brand’s social media account to celebrate Pride month back in 2021.
Speaking via IG stories, Storm donned a hat lavished with rainbow-coloured pom-poms as the Australian confirmed that she isn’t just an ally to the LGBTQIA+ community, but is actually a part of it herself – confirming her bisexuality.
Speaking on The Sessions with Renee Paquette, Toni Storm has discussed the circumstances around her public declaration on her sexuality and calls it a “weird ordeal”:
“Again another weird ordeal. They had me on for the pride thing – I don’t know how it came up. I think I was joking like ‘oh I’m bisexual’ because I am so should I announce it? Is that what we have to do? I don’t know, I was just talking, just blabbing on and they were like it’d be really good if you want to, you can, people would probably really like that. And I was like oh yeah, sure. There’s no harm in being open about stuff, it might encourage other people to be open about stuff, it might make them feel better.”
Toni Storm also spoke at length about her frustrations that led to her abrupt WWE exit and claims the company “crushed” her love of wrestling.
