Toni Storm has boldly claimed that AEW women’s division is the best on the planet, describing it as “home.”
After months of rumours and speculation, Toni Storm finally made her AEW debut on the March 30th episode of Dynamite. The star appeared as a mystery opponent for The Bunny in the first round of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.
After a back and forth contest, Storm scored the win with the Storm Zero.
Appearing in the latest instalment of AEW’s ‘Road To’ series, Toni Storm opened up about her return to the ring and AEW debut. The star admitted that she contemplated retirement before joining AEW, before hailing the women’s division as the best on the planet.
“Recently, I planned on retiring from the wrestling industry, which is something I never considered in my entire life. I’ve put my entire life into becoming the best professional wrestler I could be. I lost that part of myself and it brought on a lot of feelings of emptiness and sadness that I can’t even describe. I travelled the entire world to be good at this. Just like Owen Hart did. AEW is home to the best women’s division on the planet. I just qualified for the Owen Hart women’s tournament. For the first time ever, I can truly say that I am home,”
After spending a little over four years with WWE, Toni Storm left the company in December 2021. On the Christmas Eve edition of SmackDown, Storm challenged Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, but was ultimately unsuccessful.
Just a handful of days later it was reported that she had left the company. Not only that, after appearing at a live event, the star flew home at her own expense, in a move that was said to have left WWE scrambling.
