Tony Khan never got to meet Terry Funk, but he got close courtesy of Tommy Dreamer.
The AEW All Out media call took place on Thursday and Inside The Ropes asked Tony Khan about what the wrestling world could learn from Terry Funk following the Sports Illustrated article with Jon Moxley, who passed away last week at the age of 79. Khan took some time to reflect on the legacy that Funk not only left on the industry, but from his as a fan.
“He is one of the greatest wrestlers I’ve ever seen in my life. I didn’t get a chance to know him personally in these later years. It was something I was interested in and it’s one of those things I always regret not having that chance. I think Terry Funk leaves a major, major footprint and the biggest of shoes to fill.”
Tony Khan Speaks On His Friendship With Tommy Dreamer
Tony Khan continued to talk about Terry Funk’s greatness and shares that one major regret he had was never meeting the Hardcore Legend, but reveals Tommy Dreamer got him close.
“I didn’t get a chance to know him personally in these later years. It was something I was interested in. It’s one of those things I always regret not having that chance. Tommy Dreamer mentioned he wanted to get it together at times, but there were a couple of times where he tried to put it together and it just didn’t work out. I know everyone knows Terry Funk and Tommy Dreamer are very close and I’m very close to Tommy Dreamer.”
