Tommy Dreamer had to help faciliate a meeting between The Rock and Vince McMahon while the two weren’t talking to one another.
While appearing on GAW TV with Mickie James, Lisa Marie Varon and SoCal Val, Dreamer went back to 2005, right when The Rock and McMahon had tension over Dwayne Johnson having the rights to his “Rock” moniker. The time was WrestleMania 21 and Dreamer remembers the moment vividly.
“It’s a big deal and there was animosity and they haven’t spoken. We get word … that one Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is showing up at the Wrestlemania party and we have to set up this secure area for Vince and The Rock to have their first conversation in a while.”
Tommy Dreamer: “[We’re] Like Secret Service”
Dreamer, who’s co-hort for the evening was John Laurinaitis got the designated meeting area set up, but what two individuals almost cause major disruption but SoCal Val and the former “Tough Enough” competitor Hawk Younkins. Dreamer recalls the incident taking place in slow motion.
“Johnny’s giving me the look and I’m like ‘NOOOO!’ … As I’m escorting them out, here comes The Rock, and [there’s] all this tension. I’m like, ‘Who the hell? If I have to murder these two people, I will.'”
Thankfully, Dreamer didn’t have to “86” anyone and it appears now that everything is copacetic between The Rock and the WWE Chairman.
