Tommy Dreamer On CM Punk – “For That AEW Audience He Would Fit In”

AEW Revolution is one of the most highly anticipated pay-per-views in recent memory. From the Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch between Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley to the 15 team Casino Tag Team Royale and the in-ring return of Sting, it promises to a huge night in the history of our sport. A huge night that may also see the return of CM Punk? Maybe.

On the March 3rd episode of AEW Dynamite, a debuting Paul Wight promised that a “Hall of Fame worthy” talent was set to sign with the company at Revolution. So naturally eyes have turned to every available, and even some unavailable wrestlers in the world, including CM Punk.

Speaking on SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio Tommy Dreamer has commented on the speculation, saying that Punk would be a good fit for AEW, and would take him over Brock Lesnar in a choice between the two.

“Punk is the anti-hero and I think for that AEW audience, would fit in,” he said. “Tony Khan has, I don’t know, but I believe he has endless reserve. Punk did the UFC thing and was a draw for that, even a draw in loss. You’re asking me a straight up opinion, I pick Punk, you know why? Because Punk can not only walk the walk, he can talk the talk. I don’t know if Brock, without Paul Heyman, can talk that talk.”

The ECW legend went on to add that a Brock Lesnar without Paul Heyman wouldn’t have the same impact, explaining that even by pairing him up with another manager, they would only be seen as “a bite off of Paul.”

For his part, The Voice Of The Voiceless has seemingly distanced himself from the speculation, writing on Twitter “no, it’s not me” in reference to being AEW’s special surprise.
