Tommy Dreamer Recalls Planned Conclusion To Infamous Katie Vick Storyline

Katie Vick

Former WWE Superstar Tommy Dreamer has claimed that the infamous “Katie Vick” storyline in 2002 was planned to end with a WrestleMania match between Triple H and Sick Boy.

In September 2002, Triple H was presented with the World Heavyweight Championship by Eric Bischoff. It was a move that marked the beginning of WWE’s now split brands having their own World Titles, with current World Champion Brock Lesnar appearing exclusively on SmackDown.

After defeating Rob Van Dam at Unforgiven, Triple then entered into a feud with Kane. While a match with both the World and Intercontinental Titles on the line stands as a pretty significant story on it’s own, what followed was one of the most controversial angles of all time.

In a series of promos, Triple H claimed that Kane’s former girlfriend, Katie Vick, was killed in a car accident while he was driving. Not only that he then showed “footage” of who he claimed was Kane, having sex with his deceased girlfriend’s corpse. The clip shown featured Triple H in a Kane mask interacting with a mannequin in a casket.

The angle which ended with Kane’s tag team partner The Hurricane giving “Triple H” an enema received a huge backlash from fans and was rarely mentioned by the time the match between the pair took place.

Tommy Dreamer has now claimed that the original plan for the story was for Triple H to face Sick Boy at the following year’s WrestleMania. Sick Boy who was also known as Scott Vick would have appeared to avenge his sister. However, the plan was halted when Vince McMahon was informed that Sick Boy wasn’t actually under contract and had only had a try-out match.

Speaking on the House of Hardcore podcast, Dreamer said that it was John Laurinaitis that broke the news.

“The whole Katie Vick, narcolepsy [Necrophilia] angle, that all came about through Vince and the payoff of all that was going to be Sick Boy Scott Vick was going to wrestle Triple H at WrestleMania to avenge his sister, who was dead. That all came about when Sick Boy Scott Vick had a dark match tryout and Vince just liked the name Scott Vick because they couldn’t call him Sick Boy. This horrible angle with Kane and Triple H was going to be the caveat to headlining WrestleMania with Scott Vick avenging his sister Katie Vick.

I remember Johnny [John Laurinaitis] having to tell Vince, ‘that’s great, but he’s not employed here.’ He was on a try-out. People have gotten hired on a lot weirder things but I think after that, it was just, ‘Oh,’ and we lost that amazing WrestleMania to avenge [Sick Boy’s] sister’s horrible degradation of her grave. That’s sometimes how these crazy things happen in WWE,”

Sick Boy is most well known for his time in WCW where he was a member of Raven’s Flock. He later wrestled three dark matches with WWE in 2002.
