Tommaso Ciampa vs. Timothy Thatcher Set For WarGames

WWE officially announced that Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher would go to war on December 6, at NXT TakeOver: WarGames.

The announcement was made following the broadcast of the December 2 episode of the black and gold brand and comes after weeks of teasing and taunting between the pair.

Attempting to prove to the former NXT Champion that he’s the best technical performer on the brand, Timothy has used his weekly Thatch-As-Thatch-Can classes to show off an array of submission moves. None have impressed Ciampa who was present for the last two editions.

On December 2, Thatcher was dismayed to see Tommaso already in the ring when he arrived to teach his class, dubbing this week’s session Ciampa-As-Ciampa-Can. Instead of a rookie from the WWE Performance Centre, ‘The Psycho Killer’ requested Timothy as his student.

Instead of a technical masterclass, the pair brawled in the middle of the ring with the former wXw regular getting the better of his foe with the help of his student. Locking in a guillotine choke, Thatcher caused Ciampa to pass out, handing him the advantage going into December 6.

The full NXT TakeOver: WarGames card now shapes up like this:

  • The Kings of NXT vs. The Undisputed Era – WarGames Match
  • Team Shotzi vs. Team LeRae – WarGames Match
  • Leon Ruff vs. Damian Priest vs. Johnny Gargano – NXT North American Championship Match
