Tommaso Ciampa has discussed his decision to move on from NXT despite past hesitation to move to the main WWE roster.
Tommaso Ciampa was one of the top stars of NXT’s Black and Gold era. He held the NXT Championship twice and the NXT Tag Team Championships once with his DIY partner, Johnny Gargano. He defined the brand during the 2018-2019 period and openly admitted that he didn’t want to wrestle on the main roster.
However, following NXT Stand and Deliver event on the weekend of WrestleMania 38, Ciampa did indeed leave the brand behind after losing to Tony D’Angelo.
Just over a week later, the star made his Raw debut, aligning himself with The Miz.
During an interview with Fightful Select, Tommaso Ciampa discussed why he changed his mind about making the jump to the main roster.
The star said that, for a long time, he felt he was nearing the end of his career because of issues he had been having with his neck.
However, after learning new ways to wrestle which have left him pain-free, The Blackheart has changed his perspective and now thinks he’s only just finished the first half of his time in the ring.
He went on to explain that a lot of other things have changed in his life, including his maturity level, which left him more open about going to Raw or SmackDown, an opportunity he has now taken up.
