After defeating Roderick Strong in a non-title match, Bron Breakker was attacked by Tommaso Ciampa, signaling the NXT Champion may once again be embracing his Blackheart persona.
Bron Breakker and Tommaso Ciampa are certainly no strangers to each other, with the second generation NXT staring down the NXT Champion during his first appearance on NXT television in September. Breakker would unsuccessfully challenge for the NXT Championship at Halloween Havoc, but was successful in pinning Ciampa to gain the win for Team 2.0 at NXT 2.0 WarGames on December 5th.
On the December 14th episode of NXT 2.0, Bron Breakker’s recent struggles with the Diamond Mine came to a head as he faced Roderick Strong in non-title action.
Breakker was victorious over the NXT Cruiserweight Champion, but his celebration was short-lived as Tommaso Ciampa appeared and delivered a brutal hanging DDT to the second generation Superstar, saying “You won the battle, but this is war. Welcome back to the deep end.”

While Ciampa may be responding to Bron Breakker asking for a third match with the NXT Champion on the December 7th episode of NXT, the attack seemed far more brutal than Breakker’s request would warrant, leading to speculation that Ciampa could now be turning to the dark side, at least in terms of his feud with the NXT upstart.
It remains to be seen when the two will square off again, but it’s safe to say the tension between the two is far from over.
