TNA Provides Medical Update On Chris Bey, GoFundMe Launched To Cover Medical Costs

TNA Wrestling has provided updates on Chris Bey and El Hijo Del Vikingo following the events that took place at a recent taping.

The day after Bound For Glory, TNA taped the next month of Impact TV shows. During one of the matches, Bey suffered a neck injury resulting in the match and the taping being halted. Discussing the injury on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated the belief is the former X-Division Champion suffered the injury after a move off the top rope:

“I guess the thing was that he was coming off the top rope and he was supposed to be caught in a twist of fate and it didn’t go well. I think that was the move. That was kind of how it was described to me. They had to stop the show, and stop the match. They decided to stop the show so it was pretty serious. Just from what everyone’s talking about it sounds very, very bad, unfortunately.”

In an update from TNA on their website, Bey underwent neck surgery and is said to be in good spirits:

Chris Bey is recovering at the hospital following surgery for the neck injury suffered Sunday night and he had an MRI procedure on Monday. He was resting in his hospital room Monday night, joking, talking about Bound For Glory and in good spirits. Chris will be in Detroit for a few days and family members have joined him, along with TNA Wrestling management and wrestlers who are staying in Detroit.

Chris is under professional care and supervision, and the local medical staff has been in contact with his personal doctor.

TNA also provided an update on El Hijo Del Vikingo, who also suffered an injury at the taping:

Vikingo returned to the Detroit hotel Sunday night after being treated at the hospital for a right knee injury. He is on crutches and wearing a leg brace. Vikingo flew home to Mexico on Monday, where he will be examined and treated by his specialist.

NJPW star El Phantasmo, who is currently battling cancer, also sent well wishes to Bey in his own personal update.
