Titus O’Neil On Hosting WrestleMania – “I’m More Than Just A Wrestler”

Titus O’Neil has recently discussed his role in hosting WrestleMania 37, calling it an “amazing honour” to do so.

Speaking on the DAE on Demand show, the former Tag Team and inaugural 24/7 Champion had the following to say about hosting the two night event in Tampa on April 10th and April 11th:

“I like to equate as being the host of the Oscars or Grammys. You’re directing the ship. At the end of the day, it’s a very prominent position to be in. You have to perform just like everyone else. They’re expecting you to keep the crowd engaged and hyped, transition to stories that are going on throughout both nights. It’s an amazing honor. Being able to be in front of a live audience is going to be a refreshing moment for every WWE superstar and fan.”

Titus’ last match in a WWE ring was in November 2020. He challenged Bobby Lashley for the United States Championship in a losing effort. Hosts Ian and Jay asked O’Neil if fans would see him competing in a ring any time soon. This is what he had to say about wrestling in the near future:

“I’ll hopefully get back into the ring with the right storyline. It’s not just about the wrestling. We aren’t called wrestlers for a reason. We’re called WWE superstars because there’s so much more that we do. I embrace every single role and part that I have. You can be on top and the champ one minute, the next minute you could not be on TV for a few months. What are you going to do in between that, how are you going to be an asset to the company? I’ve proven over 12 years that I’m more than just a wrestler and I can do more. That’s one of the reasons the decision was made to have me host WrestleMania with an iconic figure in WWE history; Hulk Hogan.”

This is not Titus’ first time hosting the biggest event in WWE’s calendar. O’Neil took over hosting duties at last years WrestleMania after original host Rob Gronkowski escaped after capturing the 24/7 Championship.

Titus O’Neil and Hulk Hogan were announced as the joint hosts of WrestleMania 37 on Friday March 19th. More information on the announcement can be found here.
