Former NXT star Tino Sabbatelli says he lost some respect for the brand’s founder Triple H following his second release from WWE in 2021.
Five years after making his NXT in-ring debut on a live event, Tino Sabbatelli was released from his WWE contract as part of ongoing budget cuts in the company.
Using the name Sabby, Tino Sabbatelli appeared on the July 21, 2020, episode of AEW Dark, teaming with Brady Pierce in a losing effort against Best Friends. However, his time with AEW was brief, and the star re-signed with WWE in October of 2020, only to be released again in June of 2021.
Speaking on Chris Van Vliet’s Insight podcast Tino Sabbatelli discussed that second release from WWE and explained why it made him lose respect for Triple H:
“I lost a little respect because I didn’t get a call, I didn’t get a text from Triple H. I called him and I reached out to him. I didn’t respect that, man, because I felt like I gave them everything that I had for five, six years, and he told me and numerous people told me that my character had star main-event caliber potential. But how do I never get a shot? Nothing.”
During the conversation, Sabbatelli also addressed rumours that he acted as a spy while at AEW and gave away spoilers to one of the company’s shows.
