WWE have officially announced that NXT Superstar Timothy Thatcher suffered a minor injury prior to NXT New Year’s Evil.
The eagle eyed viewer will have noticed that Tommaso Ciampa vs. Timothy Thatcher in a Fight Pit Match was removed from the January 6 edition of NXT after weeks of hype for the feud ending collision.
Before the event went live on the USA Network, speculation began to do the rounds about something awry in the NXT locker room and soon it was confirmed by WWE and later by NXT General Manager William Regal that Timothy Thatcher would not be cleared to compete thanks to an injury picked up while training for the bout.

As of writing, there is no word on the extent of the grievance though it is said to be only minor and WWE hope Thatcher won’t miss too much television time. His absence from New Year’s Evil is thought to be more of a precaution so as not to aggravate the existing wound.
Though NXT were forced to indefinitely postpone the Fight Pit Match, Regal promised that the bout would go ahead upon Thatcher’s return.
With a special Valentines Day edition of NXT TakeOver slated for February 14, NXT will be hoping that the technical marvel is cleared to compete by then.
