AEW Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa has confirmed that she was offered a WWE deal, something she likens to selling her soul to the devil.
Thunder Rosa has made waves since first appearing for AEW back in August 2020. In just her second match in the company, Rosa faced then-AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida for her title at All Out one month later.
In March 2021, Thunder Rosa and Dr. Britt Baker DMD made headlines for their iconic Lights Out match on AEW Dynamite that helped propel both women’s careers. It wasn’t until July 2021 however, that Thunder Rosa was unveiled as being All Elite, signaling that she had inked a full-time deal with the company.
La Mera Mera has since gone from strength to strength and she finally captured the AEW Women’s World Championship from Baker on Dynamite in a Steel Cage match in her adopted hometown of San Antonio, Texas.
Speaking to Sportskeeda Wrestling, the fighting pride of Tijuana’s graveyards revealed that things could have been very different indeed. Thunder Rosa confirmed that she had been offered a deal by WWE but it’s one she wouldn’t have been enthused to take:
“It is true. When you are, again, in need of a job and you’re tired of hustling, when you’re tired, when you feel defeated, sometimes, we’ll call it, trying to sell your soul to the devil, right?”
Thunder Rosa recently made her second successful AEW Women’s Title defence at Double Or Nothing when she defeated Serena Deeb.
