Thunder Rosa Confirms AEW Return

Thunder Rosa with AEW Women's World Championship

Thunder Rosa has been out of action since wrestling on the August 15th, 2022 episode of AEW Dark Elevation. The show had been taped five days earlier.

Shortly after, Rosa was forced to pull out of her scheduled AEW Women’s Title defence against Toni Storm at All Out. Instead, a match was set to decide a new Interim Champion which Storm won. The kiwi star held the title until being defeated by Jamie Hayter at Full Gear. After the event, Rosa gave up her Women’s Title and Hayter was crowned ‘full’ champion while Storm’s interim reign was also upgraded.

Details around Thunder Rosa’s injury have been few and far between with the only real confirmation being that she’s dealing with a back issue. However, it seems that she could soon be heading for a return.

Thunder Rosa Nears In-Ring Comeback

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Rosa said that she expects to return to the road soon, although she won’t yet be wrestling.

“Since we’re talking about AEW, I’m probably going to be coming back on the road pretty soon. Not to wrestle, but we’re going to be out at AEW and showing face and being around all this stuff. It’s going to be nice to be around everyone and see how things unfold,”

Despite being out of action, Thunder Rosa has remained in the spotlight, with some seemingly frustrated that she was allowed to keep hold of the AEW Women’s Championship for so long. Before competing at Full Gear Toni Storm said that the star should just “come back to work” and “defend her title like she’s supposed to.” These comments came after earlier claims that the situation had been “bothering a lot of people.”
