In a huge rematch, Britt Baker will defend her AEW Women’s World Championship against Thunder Rosa at AEW Revolution.
On March 17th 2021, Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa went to war on a special St Patrick’s Day Slam edition of AEW Dynamite. However, the bout wasn’t just any match, it was an Unsanctioned Lights Out Match, and the first women’s match to headline AEW’s flagship show.
The bloody affair received near universal acclaim across the board, from fans and fellow wrestlers alike.
Despite being defeated by Thunder Rosa, Baker went on to Double or Nothing in May, winning the AEW Women’s World Championship that she still holds.
In the months that have followed, Rosa has clawed her way back to the top of the rankings, finally earning her rematch against the champion.
On the February 16th episode of AEW Dynamite, Rosa defeated Mercedes Martinez in an No Disqualification Match. Martinez had been tasked with taking out Thunder Rosa by Britt Baker. After the match, Baker, Rebel and Jamie Hayter came to the ring to take out the number one contender. Martinez was also expected to join in but hesitated, meaning she was also beaten down for her troubles.
On the following episode of AEW Rampage, the match between Baker and Thunder Rosa was made official.
It has also been confirmed that Adam Cole will challenge Hangman Adam Page for the AEW World Championship at the same event on March 6th.
Elsewhere, CM Punk will meet his long-time bitter rival MJF in a Dog Collar Match.
The 2021 edition of the show was main evented by the Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch between Kenny Omega and Jon Moley for the AEW World Championship.
