A current AEW Champion reveals she was approached to be a part of the ‘Queen Of The Ring’ film.

Directed by Ash Avildsen and released on 7th March, 2025, ‘Queen Of The Ring’ is based on Mildred Burke, the first-ever NWA Women’s Champion and a legendary figure in women’s wrestling. The film stars Emily Bett Rickards as Mildred Burke.

Writing on the recent edition of her Mone Mag newsletter, TBS Champion Mercedes Mone revealed how she was approached to be a part of the film. However, an injury stopped her from getting involved.

“Before AEW Revolution, I made my way to LA for the red carpet premiere of “Queen of the Ring,” a film that tells the incredible story of Mildred Burke. It’s truly surreal for me. A couple of years back, I was approached to be a part of this project, but unfortunately, I was sidelined due to an injury. However, seeing my girls Trinity, Toni Storm, and Kamille shine in this film fills me with so much joy.

Let’s be real: women have always had to work ten times harder than men to get noticed in this industry. And when you look back at Mildred Burke’s era—wow! It was a whole different ballgame. I have immense respect for the trailblazers who laid the groundwork for women like me to build empires in this sport. I’m beyond excited for everyone to see this movie and to continue embracing women’s wrestling in all its glory.”

The film also stars Kamille, Toni Storm, Britt Baker, Jim Cornette and Naomi in integral roles.

AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone Discusses Post-Retirement Plans

A few days ago, speaking with Katee Sackhoff on The Sackhoff Show, Mercedes Mone opened up on her wrestling future and retirement plans.

“That scares me, I don’t want to think about the word retirement but I do think about slowing down because I’ve been doing it for so long. Aches and pains start to catch up and different dreams start to happen. Life starts to grow and I just have so many more dreams that I want to go pursue and chase and go accomplish while I still can, being young and feeling good and having my body feel good.”
