Dave Meltzer believes there is “more to the story” of Kairi Sane’s WWE return.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson, first reported that Kairi Sane had agreed to a deal to return to WWE. Sane, who left the company in December 2021 to return to Japan, is expected to make her way back to the WWE soon.
The Wrestling Observer Radio‘s Dave Meltzer hinted that more information about Sane’s decision to leave Japan and return to WWE could be revealed in 2024:
There is more to the story and it probably won’t come out until 2024, but there is more to the story. The gist of everything is that there are a lot of different moving parts going on in Japan that probably helped make the decision.
Meltzer believes that Sane had multiple offers, indicating that AEW may have been interested in her:
She said that she had multiple offers, which tells me that AEW was probably interested, as they should have been, and AEW would have probably allowed her to live in Japan or at least be in Japan and go back and forth, whereas in WWE she is going to have to stay.
Since her departure from WWE, Sane has been competing primarily for Stardom in Japan. She even won the IWGP Women’s Championship in November 2022, holding it for ninety days before losing it to Mercedes Mone in February 2023.
