AEW star MVP gets candid about the events that led to his WWE exit in 2024.
Former WWE CEO Vince McMahon did not pay heed to MVP and Bobby Lashley’s requests to reform The Hurt Business, as he had other ideas and plans.
When the former United States Champion realized that nothing was going to happen to materialize a significant reunion, he requested his release. And in the process, he urged Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin to do the same, as he felt Tony Khan’s AEW would be a better place to be.
MVP Reveals He “Immensely Disliked” A Person In WWE Management
On Insight with Chris Van Vliet, MVP talked about the harsh reality one has to deal with because of the kind of person who is in charge. Without disclosing any names, the AEW star stated that there are people in WWE management he cannot stand, especially one person.
So when it came time for our contracts, I made it very clear that I don’t want to be there anymore. There are people there in management that I dislike immensely, a person, and I wouldn’t even bother to get into that. But I just knew that with certain people in charge, and that’s how the wrestling game is, that’s how life is.
I don’t care where you work. When management changes, some people are out, other people are in, and I knew it was time to go. I wasn’t gonna re-sign. I was in Bobby’s ear constantly like don’t re-sign. Shelton got released. Don’t re-sign. Let’s you me and Sheldon get back together. Let’s go to AEW. I know we can go to AEW and we can pick this thing back up.
I’m grateful to Tony Khan for seeing the value in us and giving us an opportunity to come over there and continue to tell our story and help some of these younger talents.

Another thing MVP values in AEW is that young talents approach him for insights, and he loves to give advice based on his professional and personal life experiences. He once again expressed gratitude to Tony Khan for allowing The Hurt Syndicate to complete their story in AEW.
