Thea Trinidad Reportedly Signs Deal Preventing Her From Joining AEW

Zelina Vega

It has been reported that Thea Trinidad, formerly known as Zelina Vega in WWE, has signed a contract which is currently preventing her from joining AEW.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it is unclear who her new contract is with, but it will prevent her from working in AEW, at least in the near future.

“Trinidad has signed a deal, we don’t know with who or even that it’s with a wrestling promotion, but the deal she signed would not allow her to work for another wrestling company and it was not with AEW. It was a somewhat short-term thing and the door wasn’t shut on her eventually working with AEW but it won’t be any time imminently.”

Thea Trinidad was released by WWE in November 2020, following a disagreement with the company over her relationship with third party steaming services such as Twitch, where she is extremely popular.

Trinidad joined WWE in 2017, where she appeared alongside Andrade “Cien” Almas. She performed as Andrade’s manager during his NXT Championship success on the black and gold brand, and remained by his side as he joined the main roster.

Just prior to leaving WWE, Trinidad began appearing in a number of singles matches against the likes of Mickie James and Asuka.

Her former charge Andrade, was also recently granted his released from WWE, with Trinidad taking to Twitter to pay tribute to the man she called “one of the most talented in the business.”

While it has been reported that he is dealing with “minor injuries,” Trinidad’s husband Aleister Black remains with WWE, but hasn’t been featured since October 2020.
