The Young Bucks Reveal Why NJPW Is “Easier” Than AEW

AEW EVPs The Young Bucks believe it is easier to work for NJPW.

Long before co-founding All Elite Wrestling in 2019, Matt and Nick Jackson of The Young Bucks were two of the top names in New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW). Over the years, the duo won seven IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships and two IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championships.

However, despite making the jump in 2019, they remained a part of the Japanese promotion, making sporadic appearances there. Earlier this year, the two brothers made their NJPW return and won their second IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship, before losing it a month later.

Recently speaking to Ryan Droste of Sports Illustrated, The Young Bucks opened up on the major differences between All Elite Wrestling and NJPW, before stating why the Japanese wrestling promotion is “easier”.

“Nick Jackson: I’d say the biggest difference for us wrestling for NJPW instead of AEW has to be less obligations. So when we wrestle for them, we only have to focus on being wrestlers. So it’s a lot easier for preparation.

Matt Jackson: NJPW has always been most known for its strong style, hard hitting wrestling matches. If you’re a talent and you’re backstage, expect to wrestle that night. AEW could be different. You might be needed for a week, only to do a quick pre-taped promo to progress a story or show a character beat. And in AEW, it’s an all you can eat buffet of different styles, and it’s all condensed into a quick two hour television show with multiple commercial breaks. I guess it’s non-TV vs. TV, which in turn makes the two products feel completely different.”

On May 9th, at NJPW Resurgence, The Young Bucks, teamed up with The Good Brothers (Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson), secured a victory against the BULLET CLUB War Dogs (Clark Connors, David Finlay, Gabe Kidd, and Gedo).

Matt and Nick Jackson are now scheduled to be a part of the upcoming ‘Anarchy In The Arena’ match at Double or Nothing 2025.

The Young Bucks Have Convinced Tony Khan To Hire This Top AEW Star

Earlier this year, during an interview with Tunnel Talk, Matthew and Nicholas Jackson opened up about convincing Tony Khan to hire Orange Cassidy.

“Chuck Taylor, of course, we’ve been good buddies with him since the CHIKARA days as well. It’s funny, there is a lot of the CHIKARA guys backstage to this day. Bryce Remsberg is another one, we’ve always been friends with him too. A lot of those guys, we specifically hired because of our CHIKARA days with them. I remember that Tony [Khan] wasn’t very high on Orange Cassidy at first so we had to kind of sell him on him for a little bit. And I remember Tony saying: ‘You guys were right.’”
