Cody Rhodes is on his way to fulfilling his promise and win the WWE Championship in the WrestleMania main event.
Ever since returning to WWE, he vowed to win the title in an ode to his father, the legendary Dusty Rhodes. The American Dream won titles wherever he wrestled. He is a three-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion, however, he never won a championship in WWE.
After sensationally winning the Royal Rumble and booking his ticket to Hollywood, Cody Rhodes is one step closer to the gold. The win set up his date versus Roman Reigns for the Undisputed Universal Championship at WrestleMania 39.
En route to the title clash the American Nightmare finally came face-to-face with the champion on the March 3rd episode of SmackDown.
In an intense promo, the American Dream spoke about the obstacles he has overcome throughout his career such as being Randy Orton’s understudy, Stardust and selling 10,000 tickets for an independent show with his friends.
The last remark was in reference to the biggest independent wrestling show in history, All In. In 2018 alongside the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega, Rhodes organised, booked and promoted the indie supershow that is credited with spearheading the creation of AEW.
The comments caused quite a stir throughout the wrestling world and drew a huge pop from the live audience. Following Rhodes’ comments, the Young Bucks changed their Twitter bio to simply state “All In.”
Can Cody Rhodes finally dethrone Roman Reigns at WrestleMania?
The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns has a seemingly unbreakable grip over the WWE Championship. After defeating the Fiend and Braun Strowman for the Universal title at Payback in 2020, Reigns is unbeaten. He has successfully defended the title against everyone who stood in his. Legendary Superstars such as John Cena, Daniel Bryan, and Seth Rollins.
At WrestleMania 38, Reigns vanquished his greatest-ever opponent, the Beast Brock Lesnar. The victory saw him unify the Universal and World Championship to become the Undisputed Champion a title he has held for over 300 days.
Now, the American Nightmare with the full support of the fans takes on the Head of the Table in one of the biggest WrestleMania main event matches in history.
WrestleMania 39 takes place over two days on April 1st and 2nd at SoFi Stadium in Los Angles, California.
