Hangman Adam Page is one of the biggest stars in wrestling and as Nick and Matt Jackson of the Young Bucks claim, the “Future of AEW”.
In a recent interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, The Young Bucks talked about when they first knew that Hangman was special before calling him the future of the promotion:
“I knew he was special when we specifically told [New Japan Pro-Wrestling referee and executive] Tiger Hattori that he needed to join the Bullet Club.
He just needed the push to get to where he is now. There’s no doubt that Hangman is the future of AEW.
He is arguably the most over guy in our company and I feel like his backstory is very relatable to the fans, which makes his character so compelling. Him and Kenny Omega is box office.”
The Bucks and Page have a long history stemming from 2016 when Hangman joined the Bullet Club. The stablemates wrestled all over the world before AEW was founded. Page is an integral part of the promotion and was the first member of the roster to stake his claim for the AEW World Title.
Hangman competed in the main event of the company’s second-ever PPV, All Out, against Chris Jericho to determine the inaugural AEW Champion. However, he was unsuccessful in his quest for gold but he gets his second crack at the title later this month.
Page returned to AEW in October, after a three-month absence due to the birth of his first child. He was the surprise participant in the Number One Contendership Casino Ladder Match on the 6th of October edition of AEW Dynamite.
His comeback was met with a huge ovation from the AEW faithful, who erupted further when he grabbed the casino chip to win the match. Hangman Adam Page now faces his former tag team partner Kenny Omega at Full Gear on November 13th for the AEW World Championship.
