The Young Bucks had to talk Tony Khan into hiring this popular star.
Since joining All Elite Wrestling, Orange Cassidy has become one of the company’s most popular stars, enjoying two reigns as International Champion and winning the 2023 Casino Tag Team Roayle alongside Danhausen.
However, AEW President Tony Khan wasn’t always sold on the idea of Cassidy joining the company. Speaking in a recent interview with Tunnel Talk, AEW EVP’s Matthew and Nicholas Jackson opened up about hiring many former CHIKARA stars into AEW, and having to convince Khan that Cassidy should be among them. However, Khan eventually came around and admitted that the Bucks were right all along.
“Chuck Taylor, of course, we’ve been good buddies with him since the CHIKARA days as well. It’s funny, there is a lot of the CHIKARA guys backstage to this day. Bryce Remsberg is another one, we’ve always been friends with him too. A lot of those guys, we specifically hired because of our CHIKARA days with them. I remember that Tony [Khan] wasn’t very high on Orange Cassidy at first so we had to kind of sell him on him for a little bit. And I remember Tony saying: ‘You guys were right.’”
The Young Bucks Made A Surprise NJPW Appearance
Back in November, The Young Bucks declared that they wanted to challenge for the IWGP Tag Team Championship when they made their returns to NJPW at Wrestle Dynasty on January 5th. However, the team shocked the world when they returned to NJPW ahead of schedule, making a surprise appearance at Strong Style Evolved on December 15th. They are set to face Great-O-Khan and an unnamed partner at Wrestle Dynasty.
