The Young Bucks don’t care about their online critics.
At Wrestle Dynasty in the Tokyo Dome, The Young Bucks captured the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championships for the second time in their careers when they defeated Great-O-Khan & Jeff Cobb, and Tetsuya Naito & Hiromu Takahashi in a Triple Threat match.
In an AEW exclusive on social media, the pair reflected on the victory, with Matthew Jackson admitting that he’s at a point in his career where he’s aware that there aren’t as many big moments left.
“I think that now, you come back to a place like this, Tokyo, the Tokyo Dome to be more specific, and you enjoy these moments a little bit more. You get older, you realise there’s not a lot of these left. It’s really cool to have our children here and our wives, they got to see this. Who know if we’ll ever do this again, who knows if we’ll wrestle in this building again?
“So, I do not take this for granted [points at title belt]. It’s our second time being Heavyweight Tag Team Champions in New Japan. It feels amazing.”
Jackson went on to address criticism he sees of the team online, claiming that he and his brother Nicholas “don’t see any of it,” instead focusing on moments like the one they just experienced.
“Don’t listen to the things that you read on the internet about us, that think, ‘These guys are bad guys and they did this and they do that!’ No no, in our head we don’t see any of it, it’s not real. You know what’s real? Moments like this, moments where you go out to a place like Tokyo Dome in front of all those people and you do something like this [winning the titles].”
Nicholas Jackson added that their families don’t care either, noting that the pair earned all of their success.
“Hell, if they do think those things about us…you know who doesn’t care? Our children. Our wives. The success we’ve had, the success we’ve made, it’s not just given to us, we’ve earned it.”
"Maybe we'll bring these to Dynamite on MAX"
