CM Punk has high praise for one WWE star who recently became a champion once again.
Following his return to the company at Survivor Series 2023, Punk became involved in a feud of the year with Drew McIntyre that culminated in their critically acclaimed Hell in a Cell match at Bad Blood. Continuing the strong momentum, Punk was prominently featured in the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber matches and competed in the main event of WrestleMania for the first time in his career.
The Chicago native had one of the best years of his career from Mania 40 to 41 and looks to have more of the same moving forward. However, when it comes to who has been the best performer of the last year, Punk has a different pick.
While speaking with Daniel Cormier on ESPN, Punk said that his pick for MVP of the year was Liv Morgan, who won back her Women’s Tag Team Championship with Raquel Rodriguez on the Raw after Mania:
Over the course of the last year, to me, Liv Morgan has been my MVP.
Defeating Becky Lynch to win the Women’s World Championship in May 2024, Morgan held onto the title for the rest of the year.
CM Punk Looks Back On Different WrestleMania
Although Punk likely has fond memories of his match at WrestleMania 41, the same could not be said for a previous appearance at The Show of Shows. In a previous interview, CM Punk explained why he screamed at a top WWE executive after his WrestleMania match.
In another interview, a top WWE star responded to criticism of their finisher.
