The WWE Match Jey Uso Believes Put Him On The Map

Jey Uso WWE Intercontinental Championship

Jey Uso has named the match that he believes brought him into the limelight.

In less than a week, Jey Uso is all set to face Gunther at WrestleMania 41 for the World Heavyweight Championship. Previously unsuccessful multiple times against The Ring General, Uso has also been involved in a few unsuccessful attempts against Roman Reigns.

While his recent past against The Tribal Chief has not been great, he holds the record for pinning Reigns for the first time and again at Money In The Bank a few years ago. Recently, during an interview on the No Contest Wrestling Podcast, Uso revealed the match that put him on the promotion’s map.

Reflecting on his 2013 Money In The Bank tag-team match against The Shield (Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins), Jey Uso stated,

“That put us on the map right there, one. Two, I remember it like it was yesterday, Uce. The Shield was the hottest thing at that moment. We’re in Philadelphia. Me and my brother come out, boom, we’re the babyfaces at this point. We come out, Shield music hits and the place erupted. I look at my brother like, ‘Let’s see what happens’ cause it was like they were the babyfaces. We weren’t even supposed to be in that match. We were just waiting, ‘What team is next?’ ‘Usos are here.’ ‘Let’s do it.’

At the end of that match, we had them on fire. I liked how it switched because [the fans] were with The Shield, but towards the end, they were chanting, ‘Usos’ too. I was like, ‘I think we’re on our way. I think we’re good here.’ The following week, we were on TV consistently. I remember Mark Henry saying, I’ve never seen a team go out there and [the fans] are flat on their hands, but by the end of the match everyone was standing and cheering.’ That’s the first match where I felt like, ‘This is what it’s supposed to be like. This is that feel.’”

Despite him and Jimmy Uso falling short against The Shield, the match was regarded as one of the best bouts of the night.

Jey Uso Comments On His WWE Journey

In an edition of the Raw Recap podcast, Jey Uso opened up about his WWE growth and the journey.

“Run that whole Bloodline story back from day one. You’ll get lost in the sauce like everybody else do. They wanted me to beat Roman. They cheered for me hard. There was never no backlash at that moment. So I kind of know how to move and groove with the game.

It resonates with me because that was my best body of work. That gave me confidence to do the singles thing. It gave me confidence in the microphone, gave me confidence in front of the camera. I feel like I act like everything is ten out of ten for me.”
