The WWE Hall Of Famer Shelton Benjamin Credits As The Unsung Hero Behind Team Angle’s Success

Shelton Benjamin Names His Top Picks For Who Wants To Face In AEW

AEW star Shelton Benjamin has credited a Hall of Famer as being the brains behind the Team Angle faction.

Benjamin made his WWE debut in late 2002 alongside Charlie Haas. Introduced by Paul Heyman, the duo were aligned with Angle and helped the Olympic Gold Medalist keep hold of the World Championship in the lead-up to his match against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 19.

On top of their alliance with Angle, Haas and Benjamin found success in their own right as they captured the Tag Team Championships. Although The World’s Greatest Tag Team worked closely with Angle during their early days on the main roster, there was another name behind the scenes who was a major influence.

Speaking with Huge Pop Radio, Benjamin noted that a lot of credit should be given to Arn Anderson:

“Arn Anderson was, in my opinion, the brains of Team Angle. Most people think it’s Kurt that guided us but, Arn Anderson is the brains behind Team Angle World’s Greatest Tag Team because he would take us in the ring and like a coach, we’d get some extras and like a coach, he would run plays with us. So all of our cool tag team — the reason me and Charlie (Haas) synched so well is because of Arn Anderson.”

Also in the interview, the former WWE star looked back on working with The Great Khali.

How Long Is Left On Shelton Benjamin’s AEW Contract?

Following MVP’s surprise arrival in AEW at Grand Slam 2024, Benjamin and Bobby Lashley made their respective debuts shortly afterwards. When asked about his contract, Shelton Benjamin revealed how long his current deal lasts for.

In recent news, Shelton Benjamin has spoken about how his number one wrestling goal is to win a world title in AEW.
