The WWE Hall Of Fame Tag Team That Jake Roberts Thought Was “Just Insane”

The WWE Hall Of Fame Tag Team That Jake Roberts Thought Was

Jake Roberts shared his initial shock at the wrestling style of WWE Hall of Famers The Bushwhackers.

Jake Roberts expressed surprise at The Bushwhackers’ aggressive and rugged wrestling style upon their arrival in WWE, during a recent episode of The Snake Pit with Jake Roberts. He described them as “rough, tough, rumble-tumble, street-fight guys,” emphasising the stark departure their approach represented at the time. Roberts vividly recalled his initial reaction, stating:

What a rough, tough, rumble-tumble, street-fight guys they were. And when they started doing all that stuff they were doing I was like ‘Who the f**k is that? And why? And what are they f**king doing?’ I thought it was just insane.

The Bushwhackers initially operated under the name The New Zealand Sheepherders before adopting the moniker that would cement their legacy. Roberts noted that their earlier persona was even more intense, reflecting a raw and unyielding approach to their craft. However, the transformation into The Bushwhackers marked a shift in their wrestling style, a change that Roberts credited with extending their careers.

Hell, it added years to their careers, man. Because their style was so rough on the body, and they were like street fighting and it was rough on it. Took its toll.

The wrestling world recently mourned the passing of Bushwhacker Butch, the vocal half of the duo, who passed away at the age of 73 in March 2023.
