WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff praised William Regal’s vital contribution to wrestling, especially his work outside the ring.
On his podcast 83 Weeks, Eric Bischoff talked about the many sides of the British wrestling star’s career. Bischoff said that while Regal was great in the ring, he’s even more valuable to WWE as a coach. The former WCW boss thinks Regal’s deep knowledge and skill in teaching wrestling make him irreplaceable as an instructor.
He’s another example of someone who did well but is probably more valuable as a coach or teacher than he ever could’ve been in the ring.
Bischoff said, highlighting Regal’s special place in wrestling. He made it clear this wasn’t a knock on Regal’s wrestling skills, which were widely respected. Bischoff added:
Not because he wasn’t good in the ring. But because he’s so incredibly good at teaching the art.
William Regal had a long wrestling career. From his start in British wrestling to when he moved to the United States to work for WCW and WWE, Regal demonstrated his technical skills with his distinctly European style of work. His in-ring career, which lasted decades, saw him win many titles and honours.
But Bischoff finds Regal’s work after wrestling particularly noteworthy. In recent years, Regal has been key in shaping new wrestling stars, working a lot with NXT. His current role as WWE’s Vice-President of Global Talent Development involves finding talent, helping create characters, and improving the ring skills of new wrestlers.
Which Former TNA Executive Does Eric Bischoff Believe Was Too Good For The Wrestling Business?
Eric Bischoff spoke about how he thinks former TNA President Dixie Carter was too good for the wrestling industry. Bischoff said he thinks Carter had good intentions when she started with TNA but that she was in over her head in trying to lead a wrestling company with no prior experience.
