WWE Hall of Famer and current AEW star Jeff Jarrett shared his thoughts on the surprise retirement of wrestling veteran Christopher Daniels.
The announcement came after Daniels’ match on the January 18th episode of Collision, leaving many in the wrestling world, including Jarrett, taken aback. Speaking on his podcast, My World, Jarrett revealed how he first learned about Daniels’ retirement through a text message.
“I got the text, I’ll leave it nameless because I just don’t want to reveal the name, and it said, ‘Hey, did you know that was Chris’ last match?’ or something to that effect. And I texted back, ‘Why? Does it have to be?’”
The sudden nature of the announcement led Jarrett to express disappointment over how Daniels’ legendary career was concluded.
“That caught me off guard, and here’s why. If this is Chris’ call, cool. But man, do you know how many people that get into this business today, or have over the last 30 years—because Chris has been in for about 30 years—not many people get to have the career of a Christopher Daniels.”
Jarrett emphasised that Daniels, who has contributed significantly to professional wrestling, deserves a more fitting farewell.
“If this really is calling it a career, I think the business—deserves is maybe a strong word—but would want, I mean, my god, look what he’s done for this. Let’s give him a little bit better send-off.”
Which WWE Legends Does Jeff Jarrett Believe Abyss Could Have Feuded With?
Jeff Jarrett spoke about how he believes a hypothetical WWE career could have gone for TNA legend Abyss. Jarrett said that he thinks that Abyss would have feuded with the likes of The Undertaker, Kane and John Cena, but following those feuds the promotion wouldn’t have any more ideas for him, and he would have likely left the company after a short stint.
