The world of professional wrestling has taken to social media to pay tribute to ‘The Original Gangsta’ New Jack who recently passed away.
Jerome Young, known worldwide as New Jack, sadly passed away in North Carolina of a heart attack at 50 years of age. He became best known for his extreme style of wrestling, gaining prominence in promotions such as Smoky Mountain Wrestling and, most famously, ECW. The life and career of New Jack was chronicled during Season two of Dark Side of the Ring.
Following his passing, condolences and tributes have been posted online from around the wrestling world. WWE, IMPACT and AEW as well as ECW alumni such as Tazz, Tommy Dreamer and Mick Foley have all paid tribute to New Jack. Former TNA World Champion James Storm would take to social media to remember the late performer, having last seen him just one week ago:
“Just landed in Baltimore and heard the news of new jack. I just seen him at the airport last Sunday walking with his face mask that said new jack and he stopped and we chatted for about 45 mins. Never take a day for granted”
Former WWE Superstar Mickie James would also take to social media to share her experiences with New Jack. Despite being known for his hardcore persona, she reveals that Jerome Young was both cool and respectful:
“I’ve shared a few locker rooms with New Jack. He was always so cool and respectful to me. You have no idea how grateful I was for that!! Truly saddened to hear of his passing. Sending his family, friends, all his loved ones so much of my prayers, love, & strength. #RIPNewJack”

🎶As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I take a look at my life, and realize there's nothin' left
'Cause I've been blastin' and laughin' so long
That even my momma thinks that my mind is gone🎶
RIP Jack … 👊🏾 pic.twitter.com/L2c367B003
