Erik and Ivar, The Viking Raiders, have teased a return to WWE following both men receiving surgery.
Following the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship victory of Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode on the January 8 blue brand, WWE posted a picture of the title change on their Instagram account which caught the attention of the former NXT Tag Team Champions.
Responding to the post, the account which belongs to Erik simply replied with several thoughtful emojis which got fans talking about a potential return.
The Viking Raiders have been absent from WWE since 2020, when Ivar was forced out of action following a neck injury he sustained in an 8-Man Tag Team Match on September 7, when the duo teamed with Apollo Crews and Ricochet in a loss to The Hurt Business.
Later that month, the star underwent neck surgery which is thought to keep him out of action for several months.
While Ivar was recovering, Erik soldiered on in singles competition with little success. Losing to Bobby Lashley on the September 14 Monday Night Raw, the talent was transferred to Main Event where he suffered losses to Riddick Moss and Titus O’Neil. His last bout in the company was November 12, 2020, when he defeated Akira Tozawa on Main Event.
Erik chose to step away from the squared circle, using his partner’s absence to undergo surgery himself in order to remove surgical hardware from his arm. It had been a process the star had put off for quite some time.
Erik and wife Sarah Logan are currently expecting their first child.
