It has been confirmed that The Usos will defend their SmackDown Tag Team Titles against The Viking Raiders at Elimination Chamber.
On the January 14th episode of SmackDown, The Viking Raiders defeated Cesaro & Mansoor, Jinder Mahal & Shanky, and Los Lotharios to become number one contenders for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships.
The former Raw Tag Team Champions are now looking to overthrow The Usos who have reigned supreme over SmackDown’s tag team division for a number of months.
In January The Usos quietly broke their own record to become the longest-reigning SmackDown Tag Team Champions in history. Their record currently stands at 201 days and counting.
The previous SmackDown Tag Team Title record stood at 182 days and was set in late 2017 and into 2018. On that occasion, The Usos won the gold from The New Day (Big E & Xavier Woods) at Hell in a Cell, before finally losing out to The Bludgeon Brothers at WrestleMania 34 in a Triple Threat match also featuring the New Day.
The Usos’ current reign began at Money In The Bank on July 18th 2021, when they defeated Rey and Domink Mysterio.
For the first time ever, Elimination Chamber will be taking place in Saudi Arabia, while a huge match for the WWE Championship has already been set. On the January 31st episode of Monday Night Raw it was confirmed that Bobby Lashley will defending his newly won championship against Brock Lesnar, Seth Freakin’ Rollins, Austin Theory, Riddle and AJ Styles.
Meanwhile it has been suggested that Goldberg could be about to return to action, with a Universal Title bout against Roman Reigns in Saudi Arabia the reported destination.
Reigns was originally supposed to face the then-Universal Champion at WrestleMania 36, but pulled out of the match due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and Goldberg lost the Universal Title to Braun Strowman instead.
