The Unique Challenge Adam Copeland Has Set Himself In Every AEW Match

Adam Copeland is looking to expand his repertoire with every AEW appearance.

More than 6 months on from his shock debut at WrestleDream, the Rated R Superstar has already left a lasting impression as he is a 2-time TNT Champion and has already checked off a number of opponents for first-time-ever matches. On top of all of this, Copeland has set himself a new goal that fans can also keep track of.

Appearing on the Swerve City podcast with World Champion Swerve Strickland and Monteasy, the Hall of Famer revealed that he is looking to execute a new move in every match, adding that he is at his best when there is a challenge involved:

“What I’ve done with this AEW run, I told myself, ‘I’m going to try a move that I’ve never tried before. One move, every match. That I’ve never done before.’ [AEW Collision before AEW Dynasty], I did the Davey Boy powerslam. Never done one before. I’ve done the rotation powerslam, but never the Davey.

Last week against Brody King, I’ve never done a blockbuster, ‘I’ll try a blockbuster.’ Just for myself, really. Just to have fun and the challenge of it. I get off on challenges. The challenges are very big for me in life. I work best when I have a challenge that I have to try and conquer.”

In another first for the star, Adam Copeland has challenged Malakai Black to a Barbed Wire Steel Cage match at AEW Double or Nothing.

Adam Copeland Teases More Surprises

The Cope Open has become one of the more unpredictable segments on weekly TV as highly unlikely opponents have stepped up to challenge The Rated R Superstar such as Minoru Suzuki or Matt Cardona. Discussing the segment and the pressure of being on live TV, Adam Copeland teased that there may be further surprises in the future.

In a new interview, Adam Copeland explained why he chose WWE to return in 2020 and not AEW.

H/t to Fightful.
