The Undertaker Says He Had Nothing To Do With This Former WWE Star Being Sent Back To Developmental

The Undertaker On Which WWE Hall Of Famer He Believes

The Undertaker denies responsibility behind this former WWE star’s journey back to the developmental.

The Undertaker is arguably one of the biggest names in the wrestling industry. With a career spanning nearly three decades, he established himself as one of the most respected names and a locker room leader.

On his recent podcast ‘Six Feet Under with Mark Calaway‘, The Phenom shared an incident where Paul Wight aka The Big Show was sent back to the developmental territory, OVW by the promotion’s higher-ups.

However, The Deadman denied his hand behind the situation and instead recalled defending Wight during the incident. He shared:

Not because of me. I tried to keep him from being sent anywhere. If he’d have seen what I saw in himself [he would not have gone to OVW].”

His jump to OVW worked in favor of him, as the veteran got to work with names such as Brock Lesnar and Mark Henry, before his eventual return to the main roster six months later in the 2001 Royal Rumble match.

Why Did The Big Show Had To Visit OVW, Despite The Undertaker’s Belief In Him?

In the late 2000s, Big Show turned heel and joined Shane McMahon, Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle Angle, and Edge to go against The Undertaker. However, the tenure was short-lived, as after an attack from the former World Champion, Big Show would be written off and sent to OVW.

The Stamford-based promotion wanted Wight to lose weight and improve his cardiovascular health. The former star worked hard and finally returned earlier next year at the Royal Rumble as the 23rd entrant, only to be eliminated by The Rock immediately.

However, Wight worked hard and rose in ranks to establish himself as one of the most trusted men in the promotion.

In a new interview, a WWE star was honoured that they got to be in a segment with The Undertaker.
