The Undertaker Reveals Who Should Have Ended The Streak
The Undertaker has made a shocking confession, revealing his belief that someone else should have shattered his historic WrestleMania undefeated streak instead of Brock Lesnar.
During the insightful Brothers of Destruction WWE Network documentary, both The Undertaker and Kane touched heavily on the moment many thought would never come.
On April 6, 2014, the world stood in shock when Brock Lesnar pinned The Undertaker at WrestleMania 30 to end The Streak. It’s safe to say there wasn’t one person who truly saw it coming, especially Kane who spoke of his shock and disgust as he watched from the locker room:
“My reaction, when I was watching, I thought the finish got messed up. I was like, ‘they’re going to restart the match or something because something got screwed up.’ They didn’t. I walked out of the room. I was literally so mad about it. I know that the streak wasn’t something that anybody had ever planned and it was just something that had kind of organically evolved, but it had become a part of WrestleMania lore at that point.”
According to ‘The Phenom’, when he arrived at the Superdome in New Orleans for the thirtieth anniversary of ‘The Grandest Stage of Them All’ he was under the impression that he would be going over until Vince McMahon informed him that plans had changed:
“I got to the arena that day and I was going over. I mean, we had gone back and forth and when I showed up, I was going over. Through the course of the day, Vince would come to me and say that he’s changed his mind. man, I was like, ‘Okay, I don’t think Brock needs it, but at the end of the day, it’s your show, it’s your call. If you’re sure about it, then that’s what we’ll do.”
However, Brock Lesnar wasn’t the man The Undertaker was eyeing to finally halt his WrestleMania legacy. As he explained, the legend had seen Roman Reigns in that role and was planning for their WrestleMania 33 bout to be that iconic moment in time:
“I thought there would be somebody, like Roman Roman would have been, I think Roman would have been fine.”
The Undertaker will take his final bow at WWE Survivor Series on November 22, thirty years to the day since his debut.
Inside the Ropes will have live coverage of WWE Survivor Series.
