The Undertaker comments on trying out a different career in his past.
Arguably one of the most well-known and respected figures in the pro-wrestling business, The Undertaker has emerged as one of WWE’s most loyal employees. For over three decades, The Phenom has remained a constant part of the promotion.
During his rise in the early 1990s, WWE and WCW were involved in a heated inter-promotional ratings rivalry. For 83 weeks in the mid-90s, WCW Nitro repeatedly defeated Monday-night Raw in ratings, bringing the stars’ morale to an all-time low. While many jumped ships, The Phenom remained loyal.
Recently, speaking on the Busted Open Radio, The Undertaker brushed aside the chances of joining WCW during that phase, though he claimed about trying his hand at MMA. UFC and MMA were an emerging combat sports industry then, and the Hall of Famer believes he could have ‘tested the waters’ there if only he had this specific experience.
“Honestly, this is what a lot of people don’t know. UFC is coming up big at this point. They’re growing. If I had an amateur wrestling background. There is a good chance I would have tested those waters. I felt like I would have been able to get my stand up on point. I have no idea, I might get my ass smashed. At this time, you have to understand the immense pressure that I’m under. I have a family. If I had an amateur background, a base, something to base my whole thing off of, I probably would have tested those waters.”

However, neither did The Undertaker join WCW, nor did he try out his career in MMA/UFC. A consistent presence during the Attitude Era, he became crucial to the roster after Raw’s win against Nitro later in 1998. Although, The Deadman has repeatedly shared his love for MMA, by incorporating several moves into his bouts, and often attending events.
Also in the interview, The Undertaker explained why he never left WWE for WCW.
The Undertaker Does Not Feel Former UFC Champion Brock Lesnar Needed The Win Against Him At WrestleMania 30
During an interview on Busted Open Radio, The Undertaker shared his opinion on who could have broken his streak. The veteran claimed that Brock Lesnar did not need the win over him at WrestleMania 30, and it was Bray Wyatt who was more suitable for the accolade.
“I didn’t feel like Brock needed it, right? Brock was…and people, all the internet geniuses [were like] ‘Well, you know, he lost this, and he didn’t do this, and he didn’t do that. He needed a win.’ Brock was an attraction all to himself by this time. Would it have helped Bray? Obviously, would have helped Bray. Would it have skyrocketed Roman? Probably, if they’d have got that juice.”
