Who is on The Undertaker‘s Mount Rushmore?
The Mount Rushmore of professional wrestling is a fun and symbolic way fans, wrestlers, and analysts rank the four most iconic or influential figures in the business. Everyone has their own list based on criteria like in-ring ability, charisma, mainstream impact, longevity, or personal favourites.
Over the years, wrestlers have given their thoughts on which one of their peers should adorn the imaginary mountain. Speaking to the Daily Mail, the WWE Hall of Famer chose his picks and left off two of the company’s biggest stars, Roman Reigns and John Cena.
You look at time periods and era for Cena then you think about the incredible run that Roman had. In this day and age, where everything happens in a blink of an eye. ‘We don’t like this, we’re going to go in a different direction.’ To be champion for that long, that’s a big testament to his dedication and his work and, and the confidence that the company has.
Right now, yeah (I am sticking with Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Andre the Giant and Stone Cold Steve Austin). Just when you think of those four, their impact that they’ve had on the industry.
The Deadman went on to explain his choices:
I don’t think really for a long time people knew what wrestling was until they they saw Andre on the Johnny Carson Show and all of those places and Flair was the face of that old school wrestling and Hogan transcended the business with the the run in the late 80s.
My goodness, there was no one any more over than Stone Cold Steve Austin ever. Just from where the business was to where it went to, where everyone on the roster is a household name, to be behind that movement or in front of that movement… you’ve got to be on Rushmore for that.
