While an active wrestler, The Undertaker largely kept his real life private, preferring to protect the mystique of his character.
However, since bringing his legendary three-decade career to a close at WrestleMania 36, The Undertaker has become far more candid, taking part in numerous in-depth interviews and even hosting his own ‘1 deadMan Show’ ahead of major WWE events.
While fans are becoming used to seeing a human side of The Phenom that was unthinkable just a few years ago, his latest venture may be the most surprising yet as his latest interview saw him going sneaker shopping.
The Undertaker discusses shoes being designed in his honour
The odd setting came about as he appeared on Complex’s aptly named Sneaker Shopping web series.
On the show, the Hall of Famer spoke about his history with sneakers, with the most memorable moment for wrestling fans being the time he literally Chokeslammed Terry Funk out of his shoes after infamously throwing Mick Foley through the Hell in a Cell structure at King of the Ring in 1998.
The conversation then turned to sneakers that have been designed in Undertaker’s honour, including a pair made by LeBron James, the LeBron 14 Undertaker.
“Anybody with LeBron’s stature in the sneaker world, those were really cool.
“Anytime you see some kind of homage paid to yourself, it’s kind of humbling to know that kids are out there wearing their little LeBron Undertakers.
“It’s a cool feeling. Those shoes turned out nice.”
In 2017, to tie in with Undertaker’s bout against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 33, Puma Clyde released 23 pairs of “Undertakers”, but unfortunately the man himself wasn’t able to get his own set.
“They did a very limited number of those. Really classic black, streamlined shoe. It’s a really cool shoe. I’d be curious about what they’re worth now.
“I didn’t even get a pair. I thought I had some juice. I didn’t get even get a pair. That’s how limited they were. If you got them in a (Size) 15, we can talk [laughs].”
